This is for you if...
-
You’re tired of internships that don’t mean anything
-
You want to actually build something — not just observe
-
You care about sustainability, but want real-world experience
-
You’re in a transition moment (school, career, life) and want direction
-
You want a story that actually changes how you see the world

What you’ll be doing
This is not a traditional internship.
And it’s not a volunteer trip.
After a short orientation and guided exploration of the town, you’ll step into a living system.
Your role is to help us solve something that matters:
How do we build one of the first near zero-waste coastal towns — without destroying what makes this place what it is?
You’ll work alongside us to:
– Identify problems that actually matter on the ground
– Design solutions that work with people — not against them
– Contribute to projects that blend sustainability, creativity, and local economy
– Help shape a story that brings global attention without changing the town into something it’s not
– Explore ways to fund and sustain this long-term
Taganga was once a small fishing town.
That was how everyone made their living —
catching fish, selling fish, sharing fish at family tables.
A river ran through the heart of the pueblo,
where people washed their clothes
and carried water back to their homes.
There were no lights after sunset.
No plastic bottles or bags drifting in the sea.
Nights were quiet. Families gathered close.
Life followed the rhythm of the ocean.
That was only thirty years ago.
And now — look at it.
This is not an experiment. Real people’s lives are directly affected by what we build here.
Our responsibility is not just to create something new —
but to protect the livelihood, culture, and integrity of this town while doing it.

Away from the tourist areas, it’s easy to forget what’s really happening. Without containers, trash piles up at the edge of town and the wind scatters it across the mountains. What stays hidden from visitors is part of daily life here — and part of why we’re fighting for a zero-waste Taganga.

Sunday night in Taganga, outside the church. The tourists are gone, but the trash remains. By Monday it will be cleaned — but not before the wind and rain drag it through the streets and into the sea. This cycle has to end.
